When Pam Travels for Work!

This post is dedicated to my number one blog fan Kelly. It's kind of a dubious honor being my number one fan since I only have six of them and I have a strange suspicion that Rigo has counted himself twice in the six. Either way Kelly has been in a facebook rut and was needing some good coffee material for her early mornings. If my number one fan makes a request, I shall oblige!

I do not have any big trip coming up other than a few business trips. I have never done a business trip report for the simple reason that they would be rather boring and for the fact that I love to share my crazy family stories with the world. Kelly made the request for a new blog entry at the perfect time. Pam just happened to be out of town for work. So here goes...

The day started out early like all Monday's. The alarm had been snoozed over four-or-five times while the new week was upon us. I finally rolled out of bed to get ready for a crazy fast and furious day. Pam would be heading out to San Antonio for work and I needed to get out of the door to head to Andrews for a training that I would be delivering.

I started into the usual morning routines of waking up Little D and getting her settled into our bed so she can watch Sponge Bob and eat her breakfast. I woke AK up a little later on and got her breakfast ready. While they are eating I took a quick shower and got dressed. Pam was going in late since she had to travel which worked out well since I had a 45 minute drive ahead of me. She would be able to take Little D to school so I could get going.

I gave the girls a kiss and Pam a big hug as a ran out the door. I was in a little bit of a rush since my training was going to start at 8:30 and I had to get everything set up. The training went awesome and I had some amazing hard working teachers in my group.

After the training Delaney called and told me she had just got home. I asked her to get her chores and homework done so I could take her to her soccer practice on time. I love Little D because she will do exactly what you ask to a T! After a 45 minute rushed drive home, I pulled into the garage to have AK call me and tell me that their bus had broken down and she did not know when her game would start. I put the car in reverse and headed to her school which is only a couple of blocks away. When I got there, sure enough all the girls were waiting outside the bus. I took AK's stuff home and asked her to call and let me know what the plan was when she found out. A half-an-hour later she called and told me they were on their way.

This was going to take some crafty planning on my part. Originally Little D was going to go to practice and her coach was going to take her home. This would allow me to watch AK play volleyball and be home when Little D's practice was over. I called Pam and found out her flight was also delayed!

Pam came up with a great idea to take Little D to practice and take her out early so we could both make AK's game in Odessa! So off we rushed to Little D's soccer practice for a while. After practice, I grabbed her and off we rushed again to Odessa to make AK's Volleyball game. It was already 7:30 and the game was just starting. AK's team lost the first game but came back strong to win the next two. In fact AK finished out the game serving an ace to seal the win!

After the game I grabbed AK and Little D and we headed back to Midland. it was now 9:15 and they not had their supper. I had the great plan to just not eat and go to bed. My theory was that we were all exhausted so we should go to sleep and double up on breakfast food. AK and Little D protested and won so we made a quick pit stop at Taco Villa for some quick grub!

I finally got the girls into their beds at 10:15 when I had a minor panic attach that the dogs had not been fed nor their lunches made. Little D smiled and told me she had already taken care of both! Pam did eventually make it to San Antonio and to her hotel at midnight.

I am truly blessed to be these two amazing girls dad. It is the best job I have ever had. Truth be told, it's easy when Pam is out of town because the girls take over and do a good job of taking care of me!
